VISION SYSTEM FOR THE CONTROL OF CAR PISTONS

HQV® SURFACE the vision system studied for the surfaces analysis

Problem:

Check the quality of automotive pistons according to different aspects:

  • processing defects
  • assembly defect and missing parts
  • surface defects such as fusion's beads, small holes, not perfect pair, and so on.
  • marking defect
  • control code marking correspondence with bar code and code printed on paper.

The main difficulty of this applicaion is due by the large variablity that normally arise from merging the pieces, such as coloration, finish of the processing, and so on. For this type of applications VEA have been created a number of series of forms specifically designed for the monitoring of area; these modules are constantly updated to give the customer a product that is state of the art in surface analysis.

Thanks to the extreme modularity of the system can be run simultaneously aslo controls dimensional type,presence,quality,recognition and readability characters control.

 

Solution:

For this type of application is used, the vision system HQV with different software modules each specialized to solve a specific qualitative analysis, starting from the module evolved surfaces analysis for the control of the surfaces defects, the form O-ring for the controls along the perimeter of rings and holes (relief ovalization or defects along the perimeter), the module MEASURE to neural breakdown for the measurement of parts and components, form recognition and character verification OCV for the verification of a combined bar code on paper with adhesive reading markings production of metal.

Crucial to the overall reliability of the application are image stabilizer, the automatic compensation of environmental light, the rotation module, the module correction of material, filters evolved to compensate for the possible formation of dirt on the optic and especially the recognition artificial intelligence.

This system is composed by three cameras, one with a view of the area from the top and the other with side views in different points of the piston to be checked.

 

 

Illumination:

VEA produces customized lighting solutions, for this application were used for each camera specific solutions to optimize the relief.

 

 

Operative panel:

The operator panel allows you to view real-time status of the piston examined displaying the detected errors on it, both in terms of quality through a simple graphical customization, both quantitatively elaborating statistic data.
